- psychology (preferably social, cognitive, or consumer)
- marketing (consumer behavior)
- economics (empirical or micro)
- judgment and decision making
What skills you have:
- Strong research methods capabilities for leading the design of complex, multi-staged multivariate randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and strong statistical knowledge for careful analyses
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing
What you know:
Passion for the field of behavioral science; knowledge of the heuristics and biases literature; existing/evolving behavior change frameworks
How you work:
- Deadline driven, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at a given time
- High energy, self-starter who possesses a strong commitment to excellence, while being adaptive to a structured, process-driven environment
- Highly professional; able to give and receive feedback with maturity
- A team player with a desire to work collaboratively. The team works as a collective with multiple people involved in each project.
- Willingness to travel (up to 35% - mostly short stints of international travel for key project milestones lasting typically less than 5 days)
What You Will Do
Our Practice team is divided up into teams that represent the phases of the BEworks Method. These teams are Discovery & Behavioral Diagnostics, Ideation & Prototyping, and Experimentation & Choice Architecture. As an Associate, you will be placed into one of these teams and spend a year developing phase-specific knowledge and skills. Every day is different depending on the project and objectives of your phase team, but you can expect to support (and eventually lead) management consulting projects through:
- Client Discovery: meetings with clients to understand their challenges, evaluating data, uncovering client assumptions, understanding their knowledge, intuition, and priors; auditing their experimental capability
- Research/Behavioral Diagnostics: gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information and existing scientific research, including insights drawn from BEworks’ proprietary IP database
- Ideation: generating solutions for client challenges based on scientific literature, BEworks proprietary research, and through leading and participating in team think-tanks and prototyping sessions
- Experimentation: supporting the design and building of RCTs of rigorous quality and exceptionally high standards using combinations of online and field methods (peer review and academic advisors provide guidance to ensure the robustness of designs and analyses)
- Choice Architecture: delivering presentations to clients and at scientific conferences, speaking to the media, and writing for academic journals and trade press
You’ll be part of an experienced team of passionate scientists whose everyday work contributes to making a real-world impact through scientific thinking and rigour. As an Associate at BEworks, you will be led by a highly experienced practitioner who will provide you with mentoring and you will work within a highly collaborative environment that promotes curiosity and learning.
